HEALTH SCIENCES PROGRAMS
Bridgewater State University’s health science bachelor’s degree program combines courses in health science, psychology and science to prepare you for a versatile career in a large, interdisciplinary healthcare field. The Department of Health and Kinesiology offers six bachelor of physical education degrees, public health and exercise physiology degrees and four unique minors that help you learn how to promote the health and well-being of individuals — and communities. Our two post-baccalaureate programs are designed for people with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline who wish to become licensed as a teacher of physical education (PreK-8 or 5-12) in Massachusetts. The MS graduate degree programs are designed for people with an undergraduate major in physical education or related discipline who are currently working under an initial license and want to get the skills and knowledge needed for professional licensure.
SOCIAL WORK PROGRAMS
The undergraduate social welfare programs offered by Bridgewater State University’s School of Social Work will prepare you to be a champion for social justice and improving the lives of others. With a bachelor’s degree in social work, you’ll gain a foundation in evidence-based policy and practice, grounded in the principles of social justice. The Master of Social Work program at BSU will prepare you for advanced social work practice to enhance the lives of individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities.

COUNSELOR EDUCATION (GRADUATE PROGRAM)
We know that you want to find a master’s degree in counseling that meets your interests and passions. That’s why Bridgewater State University offers six counseling degrees and post-master’s licensure programs with concentrations in mental health, school counseling, school adjustment counseling and student affairs. The Master of Education (MEd) in Mental Health Counseling can help you develop the solid skills and experience needed to become a licensed mental health care counselor (LMHC) in Massachusetts, while the Mental Health Counseling-Dual License MEd also leads to licensure as a School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor License with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Bridgewater State University's Bachelor of Science and minor in Communication Sciences and Disorders provide a preprofessional foundation in speech anatomy and physiology, phonetics, and language acquisition. If you are considering majoring in another discipline such as elementary education, minoring in communication sciences and disorders could be especially useful if you would like to become a teacher or work with children and adults in educational settings. The Speech-Language Pathology, MS program at BSU provides students with the academic and clinical coursework required for pursuing national certification and state licensure as a speech-language pathologist.
